Dancers Care Foundation hopes to grow this page to hundreds of dancer stories. Join with us by adding a donation story of your own and make us proud. Please accompany your donations with a paragraph explaining how you raised the funds and we will add it to our page.

ICON Dance Complex and the ICONic Girlz of Englishtown, N.J., donated $2,100!!!
Joanne’s Dance Center raised $2,000 through bake sales. AMAZING!! Great job!!!
Dance Sensations in Staten Island, N.Y., had dancers make flip-flops and sell raffle tickets. They also had many donation baskets, and between all the efforts they raised and donated $1,535 at our November 14, 2010, Benefit.
Staff and dancers at The Next Step Studio—Alexa Merke, Amanda Young, Corey Nase, Madison Vidovich, Angela Hervochan—reached out to community sponsors and raised $200!!
Dance It Up Studio put out a donation basket at their studio and raised $148.20!
Lisa Catan and Lillian Zuar, from Not Your Ordinary Dancers of New Jersey, helped to raise $9,049.74, along with the NYOD Dancers, by having a Halloween Dance-A-Thon. Parents of NYOD were a big help in raising these funds, the highest amount ever raised by an individual studio. The donation was made at the November 14, 2010, Benefit.
Shannon Johnson, a student at Stagelite PAC, donated $331 with her mom, Joanne, who walked and picked up change she found all year long. She collected and presented this at our November 14, 2010, Benefit Competition. This was the mother-daughter duo’s second time on “Students Making a Difference.”
Victoria Franzetti, student at Movement Dance Center and the reigning 2010 Miss Star of Hope from Atlantic City finals, made an amazing guest appearance and a donation of $25.
Kelly McCann, Miss Star of Hope 2008 at McHenry’s School of Dance in Pennsylvania, raised $3,000 by asking family members to send her money so she could support Dancers Care Foundation.
Frogmore Country Elegance and Friends have collected donations on behalf of Dancers Care Foundation in excess of $1,000.
Joanne’s Dance Center raised $375 by holding a bake sale as well as donating the winnings from every competition they attended.
New York Crystal Dance Studio, under the direction of Miss Kathleen, held car washes and sold pink ankle bracelets. Jessie Rudolph, Melissa McDonough, Valerie McCarthy, Alyssa Ferrero, Stephanie Polidoro, moms, dads and the Carter family ALL put these efforts forward—and together they raised $450.
East Coast Performing Academy raised money by tagging at Walmart and having their families and friends eat at Applebee’s. They asked Applebee’s to kick back 10 percent of their food receipts, and they raised $250!
Shannon Johnson, a student at Stagelite Performing Arts Center in Pequannock, N.J., purchased T-shirts, tie-dyed them pink and sold them. Her mom donated the shirts so that 100 percent of the sale proceeds could go to Dancers Care Foundation. They presented a check for $1,895 in October 2008 at the Nutley, N.J., Benefit Competition.
Brenna Weick hosted a fund-raiser on behalf of Dancers Care Foundation to raise awareness among a generation of girls who may not have been fully aware of the importance of mammograms and self-exams. Pictures of the event were published in Brenna’s local newspaper (see our photo page), and her fund-raiser draw of $500 has been donated to the Dancer’s Care Foundation.

Bridgette and Kristen of New Jersey studio, Dance Sensations, sang Christmas carols and sold pink bracelets. They raised and donated $324.85!!!
N.Y.O.D. “Not Your Ordinary Dancers” of New Jersey in October 2009 once again held their amazing money-jar game, with the White and Pink teams vying for the win. Whoever had the most funds in their jar was the losing team….making it enticing to put money in the other team’s jar. They raised $1,004 and continued their support of the fight against cancer!!!!
Cassie and Alexis from Joanne’s Dance Studio, New Jersey, raised $2,600 by washing cars and holding bake sales.
Jackson Dance Center of NJ, has conducted a “Miss Star of Hope Essay Contest. The winner of the contest will receive a complimentary Solo entry, Costume and Title entry for October 26, 2008, Benefit Competition. The winner of that Essay contest was Bridget Thompson and she performed in Nutley, NJ. Additionally, the studio raised $1,039 for Dancers Care Foundation.
Lauren Koster of Crazy Rhythms Dance Center in Ronkonkoma, New York, was planning a formal Sweet 16 party. After participating in Starbound competitions and hearing about Dancers Care, she wanted to make a difference. Instead of party favors, she gave each of her guests a card that read “A donation to Dancers Care Foundation has been made in lieu of party favors.” Lauren presented Dancers Care with a check for $500 in celebration of her Sweet 16.
DX Dance Academy of Deptford, New Jersey, teamed with an after-school program called “Step Team” to put on a performance to benefit Dancers Care Foundation. Their “Dance for the Cure,” held at Bullock Elementary School, generated proceeds in the amount of $650 that were presented to Dancers Care Foundation.
Alexa Ragozzino and Kristen Baxter from Jaimes Dance Odyssey, after hearing about Starbound’s mission to raise money to help those inflicted with cancer, decided to sell candy and water at their siblings’ soccer games. They presented a check for $104.47 from their efforts at Starbound’s 2007 event in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Melissa Denholtz, from New Jersey, collected and donated $628 from her mitzvah project and presented it at the Starbound benefit in Montclair, New Jersey, on October 29, 2006.
Jordan Reich raised $545 by asking for donations at her own bat mitzvah! At our Hermosa Beach, California event, young Abby brought in the pennies she had saved all year long and donated them to Dancers Care Foundation. No amount is too small, and you are never too young to have an impact and make a difference. She donated $9.69!
Amanda O’Campo of California, took the time to write letters to her family about Dancers Care and how their donations could help make a difference. Amanda’s efforts raised $80, and she donated it all to Dancers Care Foundation.
